The Director of Emergency Services is responsible for the management and supervision of the six departments in the Directorate: The City of Fredericksburg Fire Department, Emergency Services Dispatch, Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Emergency Notification, and the City of Fredericksburg Safety office.
Emergency Services is charged with carrying out a comprehensive public safety program and an all-hazard emergency management program for the City of Fredericksburg and Gillespie County.
John Culpepper - Director
Our public safety program includes extensive training and certification
by our Firefighters, Emergency Medical Technicians, and Emergency
Dispatchers in preparing for and responding to emergencies. A
comprehensive emergency management program includes pre and
post-disaster mitigation of known hazards to reduce their impact;
preparedness activities, such as emergency planning, training, and
exercises; provisions for effective response to emergency situations;
and recovery programs for major disasters. A new facet of our charter is
the development and implementation of an Emergency Notification System
that will alert City and County residents of pending emergencies and
provide public service announcements.
