Prior to his retirement from FISD as a high school history teacher, Tom previously served on Fredericksburg City Council (2005-2010) and as Mayor (2010-2012).
Currently, he is serving as co-chair of the Community Visioning Government Committee. He has also served on the City Board of Adjustment (2016- 2018) and was a member of the City Charter Review Committee (2015-2016), as well as the Vision 20/20 Committee. He is also a 2008 graduate of Leadership Gillespie County.
Tom taught at FHS from 1994-2018 and was a Main Street businessman for sixteen years (1976-1989). A native of Houston, he has lived in Fredericksburg for 44 years. He has been married for 36 years to his wife Kelly, a current Chamber Ambassador and 2016 Chamber Volunteer of the Year. They have a son, Karl-Thomas, age 33, of Austin, along with a dachshund, Libby, and 3 cats.
For Tom, it was an honor and a privilege to have served on City Council before and he looks forward to serving the citizens of Fredericksburg again.
