Tim Dooley

Councilman Tim Dooley is a lifelong resident of Fredericksburg and Gillespie county. He attended St. Mary’s High School in Fredericksburg and graduated from St. Edward’s University, in Austin, with a BBA in Management and Marketing in 1975.

Mr. Dooley continues to operate his family’s retail variety store that was founded by his grandfather in 1923. The store is located on Main Street in downtown Fredericksburg.

Mr. Dooley is married to the former Jerrie Murphy of Mission, Texas, and they are blessed to have two fine children ~ Christopher (a student at Texas A&M) and Heather (a student at Fredericksburg High School).

Service to the community has long been a family tradition as grandfather Dooley was the president of the Chamber of Commerce for five terms and Mr. Dooley’s father has been a member of the City’s Planning & Zoning Commission for over 30 years. Tim has served the City as a member of the Zoning Board of Adjustments, the Home Rule Charter Writing Commission, and a member of the Steering Committee for Fredericksburg’s 150th Anniversary Celebration. He has also been a member of the Fredericksburg Jaycees and the Fredericksburg Rotary Club.

Mr. Dooley’s service as a member of the City Council began as an appointment to fill an unexpired term and then was elected three more times to two-year terms. After sitting out for one year, Mr. Dooley was elected to his fourth term as a member of the council.

His goals for the council and our community center around maintaining Fredericksburg’s national reputation as a clean community where people choose to raise children as well as retire. To that end, Mr. Dooley believes that properly administered government can be a positive force in controlling and influencing growth.

It is often said of Tim ~ "You may not always like what he has to say or agree with him, but you will always know exactly where he stands on an issue - just ask him."
