JEFF JEFFERS Just over twenty years ago, Jeff Jeffers moved from Dallas to Fredericksburg and into the Fredericksburg High School system, where he would continue his journey of a lifetime of being influenced in a positive manner by the adults who surrounded him. In the classroom, new worlds were opened to him by some great educators, including Jackie Schandua, Laverne Loving, David Hopf, and Lois Whitewood, just to name a few. It was Mrs. Whitewood’s influence which directly resulted in Jeff becoming an English teacher himself. During his time spent in the FHS Athletics program, coaches Rick Wilson, Carlin Wicker and David Mayfield provided Jeff with additional perspective and direction. In fact, it was the influence of David Mayfield which played a large role in Jeff becoming a high school football and baseball coach. Jeff continued his studies at Texas A&M, graduating in 1995. From there, he earned a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University. Jeff began his career as a coach in Baytown and, in 1999, he because the youngest 5A offensive coordinator in the state of Texas at the age of 27. However, Mr. Jeffers’ life would soon take a turn in a very different direction. Throughout his high school and college years, Jeff worked at our local Auslander Restaurant, under the tutelage of Mike Clark. While at Baytown, Mr. Clark approached Jeff with the invitation to purchase The Auslander from the Clarks. Jeff jumped at this unexpected opportunity, and he worked diligently and creatively to improve and renovate the restaurant. In 2007, Jeff finalized the purchase of The Auslander, and he has built upon the past successes of the existing restaurant by expanding the entertainment aspect of the restaurant through live entertainment. Mr. Jeffers has been instrumental in cultivating our community as a live music destination, enjoyed by local residents as well as our guests and visitors. The Auslander continues to thrive under the consistent dedication of Jeff to his livelihood, while also providing our guests with yet another reason to visit our community. Every year, Jeff travels to Germany to learn more about the German culture and gain an additional perspective and ideas that may benefit the culture of the City of Fredericksburg. One of Mr. Jeffers’ objectives by seeking a seat on the city council is to ensure that our German heritage continues to be cultivated. Jeff is proud of the fact that he is not a politician; rather, he considers himself a public servant. And that is why he ran for city council ~ to serve the community, and he is looking forward to doing just that.
