Tom Musselman is the council’s newest member, a first time candidate, who filled the vacancy left by outgoing member, Ann Brey.
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Tom has been a resident of Fredericksburg and Gillespie County for the past thirty-three years. A former Main Street businessman, he was the general manager of The Gallery Restaurant and Bar and The Domino Parlour Restaurant and Beirgarten for 14 years.
Tom is now a public school teacher in his 13th year of teaching at Fredericksburg High School. He teaches Advanced Placement U.S. History, A.P. U.S. Government and Politics, and Economics and holds a B.A degree in History and a Master’s in Education.
He also served on the Vision 2020 Education Committee and served as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 135.
Fifty-three years old, he has been married for 23 years to his wife, Kelly, a free-lance writer and community volunteer. Pet lovers, they share their home with several cats. Tom and Kelly have a 20 year old son, Karl-Thomas, a SMS and FHS graduate and student at UT- Austin.
As City Councilman, Tom’s main considerations concern the pride, preservation, and progress of the town. He feels that Fredericksburg’s goals must be to preserve its past, have pride in the present town, and have a pro-active plan for progress in the future.
