Facilities

Baseball

Lady Bird Park has a lighted softball field, regulation baseball field and one practice/multi-use field.

Basketball

A regulation concrete basketball court can be found at the Pavilion #5 area.  It is open to the public at no charge during normal park hours, except when Pavilion #5 is rented. 

Fishing

Fishing is allowed along Live Oak Creek throughout the park, except within the golf course.  For safety reasons, no fishing is allowed from the bridge.  Watercraft without motors are allowed on the creek.

Golf

Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course is a par-72, 6,432-yard championship 18 hole golf course with practice facilities featuring 20 hitting stations, 2 practice greens and a practice bunker to work on those tricky little shots around the green or those long sand shots that we all love.

Our Hill Country golf course has tree lined fairways with some of the most beautiful live oak trees you have ever laid eyes on. Four of the holes on the front nine cross over the meandering Live Oak Creek and the back nine features 3 lakes that five of the holes come into play with.

Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course is open every day of the week except Monday mornings.  It is located on Golfers Loop, across Live Oak Creek . For more information or for tee time reservations, call (830) 997-4010.

The  Club House/Pro Shop facility features the Red Bird Grille, The Cardinal Room ( large meeting room), large pro shop/merchandise area and improved parking/traffic flow.

Nature Trail & Hiking

The Fredericksburg Nature Center offers a unique blend of diverse habitats to visitors, one that can be found nowhere else in Texas.

The Nature Center has over 6,600 feet of beautiful and interesting hiking trails divided among two loop trails and a special 600-yard long wheelchair-accessible trail. All the trails meander through diverse habitats with many species of forbs, woody plants, and grasses along their way. Many important species are marked with identifying signs. There is also abundant insect and amphibian life waiting to be discovered. There are comfortable benches placed conveniently along all of the trails for rest, reflection, and observation.

The Handicapped Accessible Trail (HAT) provides wheelchair-bound visitors the first trail of its kind in the state.

All of the trails are well maintained and should present little challenge to the average hiker.

 Pavilions / Meeting Facilities

Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park has 5 open air pavilions available for rental.  These are ideal locations for gatherings such as family reunions, birthday parties, etc.

Pavilion #1

 

Open air pavilion with table seating for gatherings up to 50 people.  Located on Lady Bird Drive, just below the dam.  Playground equipment, baseball  and restrooms nearby.  No barbeque facilities. Cost: $25.00 per day.

 

Pavilion #2

 

Open air pavilion with table seating for gatherings up to 50 people.  Located on Lady Bird Drive, across from the Tatsch House.  Playground equipment, tennis and swimming pool nearby.  Barbeque pit and fire box.  Restrooms located at Tatsch House. Cost: $30.00 per day.

 

Pavilion #3

 

Open air pavilion with table seating for gatherings of 60-75 people.  Located on Pavilion Drive. Playground equipment and restrooms nearby.  Large barbeque pit and fire box.  Cost: $35.00 per day.

 

Pavilion #4

 

One of the newest open air pavilions with table seating for gatherings of 60-75 people.  Located across the creek.  Driving range,  playground equipment and restrooms nearby. Large barbeque pit, firebox and scoreboard. Cost: $35.00 per day.

 

Pavilion #5

 

The newest open air pavilion with table seating for gatherings of 60-75 people. Located on Petsch Loop next to Live Oak Creek.  Playground equipment, volleyball, basketball, baseball and restrooms nearby. Large barbeque pit and fire box.  Cost: $50.00 per day.

 

Tatsch House

The Tatsch House is one of the City of Fredericksburg’s most recent addition to event facilities. Whether you are planning a family reunion, rehearsal dinner, meeting, shower, or just about any other event . . . this could be the perfect site! With renovations completed in 1999, The Tatsch House now offers a comfortable atmosphere in an ideal location. 

The Tatsch House is designed for gatherings of 60 to 80 people (indoors), with a full kitchen and tables and chairs included in the rental fee. In addition to the indoor facilities, The Tatsch House includes an outdoor fenced-in patio. it is located on Lady Bird Drive, across from the swimming pool.  Cost: $100.00 per day.

Pioneer Pavilion

Pioneer Pavilion was constructed  in 1968, in celebration of Fredericksburg's 125th anniversary. A large, indoor facility, it will accommodate up to 500 people. It has a stage, kitchen area, and restrooms.  It is heated, but not air-conditioned.  Tables and chairs are included in the rental fee. It is located at the corner of Lady Bird Drive and Recreation Loop.  Tennis, swimming and playground equipment nearby.  Three large barbeque pits available. Cost: $500.00.

 

The Cardinal Room

The Cardinal Room is a perfect location for your business gathering for up to 80 people.  You can have a meeting in the morning,  followed by golf in the afternoon, or vice-versa!  It has also become a popular venue for reunions, wedding receptions and other types of gatherings. 

This facility includes tables and chairs, sound system, catering kitchen, and golf scoreboard.  It is located in the Club House at Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course on Golfers Loop.

Swimming

Swimmers can use the Olympic-size pool during summer months beginning May 27.  Hours are 1:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.  Cost is $1.00 per person for all day. It is located on Recreation Loop, across from the Tatsch House. 

Tennis

Six tennis courts - four lighted - give opportunity to participate in this popular game. Located on Recreation Loop next to the swimming pool. Court use is free during daylight hours. Lights cost $2.00 per hour per court.

Volleyball

A regulation sand volleyball court can be found at the Pavilion #5 area.  It is open to the public at no charge during normal park hours, except when Pavilion #5 is rented.

Pet Rules

1. Pets on short leash at all times.

2. Pets cannot be left unattended.

3. Pets not allowed inside any park facilities at any time.

4. Please clean up immediately after your pet.

5. Only 2 pets are allowed per RV.

When a pet owner is observed violating the above rules, a warning will be issued.  If observed a second time, the owner will be required to leave the park with no refund.
