Ft. Martin Scott
Located out 290 E across from Walmart  Fort Martin Scott is the the historic grounds of a U. S. Army outpost. Some original buildings have been restored. The old fort was in operation from 1848 to 1853 by the U.S. Army. After that time it was occupied by the Texas Rangers and at one time by the Confederate States Army. Later abandoned and used by the Braeutigam family, it was purchased by the City of Fredericksburg in 1941.

Fort Martin Scott is currently operated as a self guided tour of the historic site. With its history and potential, it is truly one of Fredericksburg’s “diamonds in the rough”.
