The City of Fredericksburg Street Department maintains approximately 98 centerline miles of streets and rights of way. This is over 475 acres of pavement.
The City of Fredericksburg's Street Repaving Program was put in place to ensure a high quality street surface for vehicular traffic. Our program requires approximately 10% of city streets to be repaved once every 10 years. This is approximately 9.8 miles of streets per year.
Streets on the paving rotation are patched, premixed, and leveled up approximately 6 months to a year in advance of repaving. Paving takes place during the summer months and lasts approximately 2 to 3 weeks.
Residence and businesses located along streets that will be undergoing paving preparation or paving will be notified in advance of the project, in order to have ample time to move vehicles, trailers, boats, etc, off of the street.
This year's paving project is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 6, 2022. A tentative list of streets to be paved and information regarding what to do if your street is being paved can be found
