Fredericksburg Police Department Patrol Officers provide service and security to citizens inside the incorporated city limits of Fredericksburg, to include, not only our residents, but the many visitors we host throughout the year. They deter crime through their presence, enforcement of laws, and public education. Patrol Officers are not only first responders in our community, but they are also the image of our department.
Duties Include but are not limited to:
Enforcement of laws and the prevention of crimes including controlling traffic flow, conducting investigations and providing police protection to safeguard lives, property and the constitutional right of citizens.
Patrolling the City to preserve law and order, discovers and prevents the commission of crimes and enforces traffic and other laws and ordinances.
Responding to general public service calls and complaints.
Conducting a variety of criminal investigations.
Performing duties necessary for emergency operations, testifying in court as both witness and expert testimony.
Responding to medical emergency calls providing basic first aid and CPR as well as providing first line crisis intervention in domestic disputes, suicide situations, and mental health individuals.
Maintaining contact with citizens and visitors regarding law enforcement procedures, to preserve good relationships and trust with the public.
