The City of Fredericksburg would like to give citizens the opportunity to become familiar with the structure, functions, and activities that take place within the City of Fredericksburg local government, encourage citizens to become involved in the processes of government, and enhance their ability to communicate effectively with all City officials.
To accomplish this, the City of Fredericksburg has developed the Fredericksburg Citizen University program. This program will take students through every facet of our local government. Interested citizens are encouraged to apply for the 2024 Fredericksburg Citizen University to acquire a better understanding of our City government and services, as well as form intergovernmental relationships. This program also gives City officials the opportunity to gain valuable insights into citizens’ priorities and needs from their involvement in the program.
The Fredericksburg Citizen University will consist of 11 sessions over the course of 11 months with a graduation to be held at the City Council meeting held on December 17, 2024. Monthly sessions will last approximately an hour to an hour and a half. Sessions will begin on January 23, 2024, and are planned to begin at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
