Why doesn't the City offer curbside recycling?
The City's recycling program has become a model for small communities. The percentage of citizens using the drop-off center rivals larger cities that have curbside service. The excellent participation along with the startup cost to offer curbside service versus the revenue from sale of recyclables has led the City to continue the drop-off program. The cost of starting a curbside program would have to be added to the garbage collection and disposal rates. Markets will continue to be monitored as well as other factors to make sure the citizens get the best service for the money.
