CANCELED FOR 2020
The Fredericksburg Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 7105 hosts the July Fourth “kiddie parade." This event is for children 12 years of age or younger. The event is free to any child who wants to participate. The VFW Post sponsors this event to encourage patriotism at a young age and to permit the expression of American ideals. The parade is totally supported by the VFW Post with member volunteers and VFW Post funds.
Location change: The event will be held under the large pavilion at Marktplatz for 2020 to allow increased space for social distancing. Please arrive by 7:45 a.m.

July 4, 2020, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park
The all-volunteer Fredericksburg Fourth of July Community Parade and Patriotic Program Committee has made the decision to withdraw their application to the City of Fredericksburg to hold a parade/reverse parade on July 4th. This action effectively cancels the Fourth of July parade in any format for 2020. After significant consideration, research and polling of previous parade participants, it was determined there was insufficient interest in the reverse parade format as approved by the Fredericksburg City Council on June 15 to produce a viable event. For the past two months, the Committee has invested significant time and resources into research, planning, and efforts to hold a parade in some format, but in the end, cancellation became the most viable option.
We appreciate what support we have received and hope to be able to produce another great patriotic event in 2021.
July 4, 2020, 9:30 PM @ Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park
The City would like to notify and encourage those planning to view the fireworks of the following:
• To the greatest extent possible, please view the fireworks in a drive-in fashion and limit exiting of your vehicle.
• Due to limited staff and anticipated high attendance at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park, you may encounter limited access to park restrooms.
• Numerous other viewing sites are available to view the fireworks, in addition to Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park. You can view the fireworks from the Gillespie County Fairgrounds, Oakcrest Park, and Fredericksburg High School parking lots.
• If you are uncomfortable being around large crowds, the City is working with Texas Rebel Radio network to stream the fireworks show live on social media platforms for those that wish to watch from home. Details for the live stream will be released soon.
