Councilmember Emily Kirchner
Emily Eppright Kirchner is a sixth generation Texan proud to call Fredericksburg home with her husband, Tim, and their two young children.
Kirchner is a graduate of Texas A&M University and has a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs from the LBJ School at the University of Texas at Austin. She worked at the Texas Capitol for over a decade, serving in the offices of three State Representatives and the Speaker of the House. Kirchner also worked for International Justice Mission in Washington D.C., a human rights agency working to end violence against the poor.
Kirchner is the current Mayor Pro Tem and the council liaison to Fredericksburg ISD. In her capacity as Councilwoman, she has also served as a member of the Gillespie County Eclipse Task Force, the Comprehensive Plan and Parks Master Plan Advisory Committee, liaison to Friends of the Fredericksburg Nature Center, and council liaison to the Gillespie County Commissioner's Court.
In the Fredericksburg community, Kirchner has served as a Hill Country Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), Planning and Zoning Commissioner for the City of Fredericksburg, President of Leadership Gillespie County Class of 2022, board member of Little Hearts Child Development Center, and was a member of the Hill Country Leadership Institute inaugural cohort. She is a founding board member of the Fredericksburg Parks Foundation and serves on the Policy Committee at Heritage School.
She has served on the City Council from 2022-present.
