Fredericksburg, Texas – The City of Fredericksburg has appointed Assistant City Engineer Evan Williamson as the Interim Director of Development Services.

Williamson, who has been with the City for nearly seven years, will lead the Development Services Department during the search for a permanent director. The City has engaged SGR of Keller, Texas, to assist in that hiring process.

"Evan has consistently demonstrated his commitment to our community and his expertise in managing complex projects,” Assistant City Manager Garret Bonn said. “We are confident in his ability to lead the Development Services Department during this transition period."

A Fredericksburg native, Williamson is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) and a Certified Floodplain Manager (C.F.M.). Over the past six years in the Public Works, Utilities, and Engineering Department, he has managed numerous development projects. His responsibilities have included planning and overseeing long-term infrastructure projects, maintaining the City's Geographic Information System (GIS) and reviewing site plans and construction projects for compliance with engineering standards.

"I am honored to step into this role and continue serving the community I grew up in,” Williamson said. “I look forward to working with our dedicated team to provide great customer service to the residents and businesses of Fredericksburg."

As Interim Director, Williamson will oversee the City Building Official, Building Inspector, Senior Planner, Planner 1, STR Specialist and Building Services Coordinator.

The hiring process for the permanent Director of Development Services is expected to take approximately three to four months.
