Hooper Welcomed as Assistant Director of Finance

Fredericksburg, Texas – The City of Fredericksburg recently hired Tyler Hooper as Assistant Director of Finance.

In his role with the City, Hooper will focus on learning the City’s financial processes and supporting the Finance Department’s ongoing goals. He will work closely with Finance Director Krista Wareham as he becomes familiar with the City’s budgeting, financial reporting, and capital planning practices. Hooper will also oversee Utility Billing operations in collaboration with Utility Billing Officer Daisy Schneider, with an emphasis on understanding current procedures, supporting staff, and helping provide the highest level of service to Fredericksburg residents.

Hooper brings nearly 15 years of municipal experience to the role, most recently serving as Director of Finance for the City of Dalhart. There, he oversaw the city’s budget, investments, Utility Billing and Payroll. Prior to that, he spent over 12 years with the City of Pampa in roles covering Information Technology and Risk Management.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from Grand Canyon University, graduating with his MBA in October 2025. Hooper is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association of Texas (GFOAT) and has completed Public Investment Funds Act training.

Originally from Pampa, Texas, Hooper and his wife Erin recently relocated to Fredericksburg with two children - Waylon and Keagan, while another child Addy is attending West Texas A&M University. Erin is completing her graduate studies and plans to open a counseling practice in Fredericksburg this spring. Hooper enjoys spending time with family, reading and is an avid football fan. He continues a family-tradition of municipal service as his father – Donny has 29 years of city government experience and is currently the Assistant City Manager of Amarillo.
