Fredericksburg, Texas – Out of an abundance of caution for both staff and residents, all City of Fredericksburg buildings, facilities, and offices will delay opening until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
Since the area remains in an Extreme Cold Warning through 9 a.m. on Tuesday and with accumulations of ice on roadways, officials have made the decision to delay the opening for the following: City Hall, Animal Shelter, Gillespie County Health Division, Law Enforcement Offices, Municipal Court, Recycling Center and Sanitary Landfill.
The City’s Sanitation Department attempted to collect trash for Monday customers on a delayed schedule; however, road conditions were deemed unsafe. Collection for both Monday and Tuesday customers will begin on Tuesday as soon as conditions improve and it is safe to proceed.
Municipal Court has been canceled for Tuesday. Individuals that were scheduled to appear will receive a notice in the mail resetting their case for a date in February.
Emergency personnel and Public Works crews will continue to be available throughout the duration of the event to respond as needs arise.
Citizens are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel and to use extreme caution if driving, especially on bridges and overpasses. Residents are reminded to call 911 in the event of an emergency, and to use 830‑997‑8080 for non‑emergency assistance.
